This article will explain how to identify overdue invoices and explore the options available for prompting your customers to settle their outstanding debts
Identifying outstanding invoices
You have a variety of financial reports at your disposal to help you identify outstanding invoices. You can choose which report to use depending on the details you need about the outstanding invoices and the actions you wish to take.
Here are some of the most commonly used reports:
Sales Admin > Invoices
This report gives you a clear view of all of your invoices and their status, with multiple actions available such as raising a credit, manually collecting the payment or cancelling the invoice entirely.
- Navigate to Home > Sales Admin > Invoices
- Adjust the date range in the top-left corner to specify the reporting period
- In the 'status' column, click the filter icon
- Select 'Outstanding'
- Click the invoice number for more information about the product they have purchased
- Select the checkbox next to the invoice and select the 'actions' button at the top-right to carry out additional actions, such as cancelling the invoice or emailing the account owner
Reports > Aged Receivables
The aged receivables report provides a comprehensive view of all outstanding invoices, organised by the number of days they have remained unpaid.
- Navigate to Home > Reports > Financials > Aged Receivables
- View and select values based on the number of days they have been overdue:
Product Sales Report
- Navigate to Home > Reports > Financials > Sales Reports > Product Sales
- Adjust the date range at the top-right as needed
- Click on the total value in the 'Outstanding' column to pull up a detailed report on all payees and their outstanding amounts
