How do I set up a Subscription/Membership

This guide will cover how to set up a membership or subscription on your system, such as an annual membership or monthly renewing subscription

Steps to Create a Membership/Subscription product


  • Navigate to Home > Settings > Products
  • Click the 'Add product' button at the top-right of your screen
  • Click create a 'product' 
  • Choose Subscription from the 'type of product' dropdown
  • Give the product a name, such as 'Annual Membership'
  • Add the product to an existing subscription product group, if you have one (leave blank if you do not)
  • Choose the subscription length 
    • For example, select '1 month'  if it is a monthly renewing subscription
  • Click 'Add New Product'

Once you have added the Subscription product, you will need to go through and determine the product settings, such as the forms and age restrictions. Each product setting is outlined below.

 

Details
In Details, you can:

  • Choose an image to represent the product in your shop
  • Set the product name
  • Set the shop status
  • Determine the subscription length
  • Choose whether you wish to consider purchasers of the subscription as 'members', for the purpose of members only discounts.
    • You can set this to 'no' if you have no 'members only' discounts set up.

Pricing

  • Add the price and select the 'person' unit under the 'what's it for' column
  • Add a description - internal use only
  • Set a specific tax rate for the item 

 

Discounts

  • If you have created a 'person' discount (for example; second sibling gets 50% off of the discount), you can apply this here

Billing:

Select your billing options:

  • Single Payment/Weekly/Monthly/Annually
  • 'Approve purchase before payment?': 
    • If 'Yes', orders will come through to you for approval before the customer is charged
    • If, 'no', payment will be taken at checkout
  • 'Collect payments automatically':
    • If 'Yes', payment will start as soon as the person completes checkout, or the order is approved
    • If 'No', the payment will not start until the customer logs into their JoinIn account and selects 'pay now'

 

  • Choose whether you are accepting payments for the item in instalments 
  • Tick the payment provider you will be using to collect payments for the Subscription
  • Select whether this is an auto-renewing membership
  • 'Suspend billing until': This will prevent anyone being able to complete a booking before the date entered. If you don't want the product to be purchasable just yet, we'd advise simply changing the product status to 'private'

 

Forms

Assign customer forms to the Sub product. For items of clothing, you may wish to create a form with different sizing options for the customer to choose from when they are purchasing the item. You can then view their choices on their contact record.

Required Files

Select whether your customers need to upload a file to purchase the item, and select the file type (e.g. proof of age)

Create different relationships with certain products to make sure users have all required purchases or memberships before they can complete checkout.

Shop

To make the Subscription visible to purchase, you need to assign it to a shop tile
